Is Greater Buelahland Interdenominational House of Rest real? No, it is not real. It is a figment of my imagination. You cannot join it or the fellowship. How did you come up with the name of the church? The name of the church was named Believer’s Chapel at first, but I later changed that to Greater Buelahland Interdenominational House of Rest. Greater Buelahland Interdenominational House of Rest was inspired by my brother’s fictitious church. It was a joke that we had going. When we would be leaving church to go home, people would sometimes ask, where are you going and he would reply, “I’m going to the Greater Buelahland Interdenominational House of Rest to get some rest.” People would ask him to explain what he meant and he would respond, “I’m going to the Greater Buelahland Interdenominational House of Rest.” It was a glorified way of saying that we were going home. The church and the Greater Buelahland Fellowship just grew from there. How did you come up with the church in the first place? I promised God that I would put Him first in everything that I do. In keeping with that promise, I put church at the center of LaDawnya's World. As she entered into her new life, she needed a new church home. Which came first, the church or the organization? The church came first. How did the organization come about? My brother inspired the organization. We were joking around about starting our own religious organization so that we could have our own conventions. My overactive imagination just took over after that. The organization grew and has grown. How did you choose the name of the organization? Decided to be lazy and use the first part of the church's name, Greater Buelahland Fellowship. How did you come up with the names of all of the churches in the fellowship? Some of them were made up. Some of them were inspired by the names of churches. Some of them were inspired by the names of streets. Others were inspired by people, places, and things. Why so many churches and ministries in the organization? I have an overactive imagination that runs away sometimes. Why did you decide to have ministries as well as churches in the organization? Something quirky. I had never seen an organization with ministries as a part of it before, so I decided to do it. The LaDawnya’s World Version… People as well as the body of Christ have many needs, so at GBIDHOR, we have a variety of ministries that will help the body of Christ. According to deartra… I wanted LaDawnya's church to be at the forefront of ministry. I created a lot of ministries that I would want to see at a large church. The body of Christ has become so diverse and distinct, that we need everything that we can to help us survive the world. I wanted GBIDHOR, as the fellowship headquarters, to be a well diverse church that could be an example to the other members of the Greater Buelahland Fellowship (GBF). What kind of pastor is Bishop Adkins? The LaDawnya’s World Version… Bishop Adkins is a wonderful pastor. He listens, leads, and guides using Christ as focal point. Bishop Adkins is a progressive pastor in his thinking, administration, and teaching. He believes that the body of Christ should be well rounded in all aspects. According to deartra… I wanted Bishop Adkins to be a progressive pastor and a visionary. I tried to make him encompass everything that I would want an ideal pastor to be. What kind of First Lady is First Lady Adkins? The LaDawnya’s World Version… First Lady Adkins is a wonderful first lady. She is supportive of her husband and the ministry. She is a prime example of how to be a wife, mother, and worker in the ministry. She has a great sense of humor and knows how to minister to hurting people. According to deartra… I wanted First Lady Adkins to be a true example of a Proverbs 31 woman. I wanted her to encompass everything that I thought an ideal first lady would. How did you come up with all of the ministries of the church and fellowship? For the most part, I thought about ministries that I had seen in churches, ministries that I had always wanted in a church home, and made up a few. I did borrow one from my godmother, Sharon Myles, Believer's Instructions Before Leaving For Eternity (BIBLE). BIBLE was her idea. How did you come up with the beliefs of the fellowship and the church? I took the beliefs that I believe in and used them, as well as some of the beliefs that other churches have. The beliefs of the fellowship and the church are the beliefs of an average Pentecostal church in America. Why does everything from the GBF seem to be so professional? I believe that everything we do for Christ should be professional. With that in mind, I worked hard on the organization as well as the church to make it as professional as it could be. Professionalism is not a sin, neither is it wrong. If we, as Christians, are going to promote the Gospel to the modern day world, we need to show this world that we have our act together. That requires professionalism, organization, and structure. Our Father does everything decent and in order. So should we. Isn't it sacrilegious to write that people were inspired by God, spoken to by God, filled with the Holy Ghost, or something like that and it is all fiction? I wrestled with that for a while. I ultimately came to the conclusion that people do hear from God, get inspired by God, and get filled with the Holy Ghost. I make sure to write in a manner that what I say is not sacrilegious or offensive in any manner. You will notice that I don't have any area codes or zip codes included. There is noting I can do about this. I hope no one calls or writes anyone or any place in LaDawnya’s World. What if someone emails you about one of the conventions or conferences? I email them and tell them that this is not real. I would tell them that that person was not real. Are you sure that you aren't playing with God by making all of this up? No, I am not. I feel that I am promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The stories are a way to tell someone about Jesus. The church and organization sure seems perfect. On the outside looking in, it looks perfect, but as with anything in life, there are flaws, idiosyncrasies, and problems. |
