LaDawnya's World is a collection of websites that have been created for fun by deartra d. madkins-Boone. It is an outlet for her creative genius to roam free. LaDawnya’s World began as a diary that I was writing while I was in college. It began on February 26, 1994. I began keeping a diary to help me cope with living in my father’s shadow. My father was a professor at the college that I was attending. I had become frustrated with people always asking me where he was and asking me to give him messages. I created this character. After a few months, I noticed that it would make a very good story to share with others. So, LaDawnya and her world were created. Since most of LaDawnya’s life was centered around the church and her adopted mother’s job, I created a church and her mother’s company first. I created the rest of the world sometime after that. All aspects, people, places, things, and ideas are not real. They are all creations of my mind. If any aspects, people, places, things, and ideas are real, this was not my intent. Please feel free to email me; I will gladly see what I can do to fix this. All poetry, short stories, essays, etc. were written by deartra d. madkins-Boone. These sites are meant just for fun. Aren't you tricking people into believing that LaDawnya's World is real? I don’t feel that I am tricking anyone. I have a disclaimer on my site that states that LaDawnya’s World isn’t real. If someone emails me, I make sure that I tell them that LaDawnya’s World isn’t real. LaDawnya’s World is like any other fiction writing, it is a bit of imagination, truth, reality, folly, and creativity designed to give the reader a boost from the real world. What does your family and friends think of LaDawnya's World? Most of my family and friends haven’t read any part of LaDawnya’s World. The ones, who have, think I have too much free time on my hands. My husband, Herman Boone, thinks I am very creative. He is very supportive. To be honest, LaDawnya’s World isn’t necessary to the circle of life. If LaDawnya’s World didn’t exist, the world would still go on. LaDawnya’s World makes my existence better because it allows me to be creative. I think LaDawnya’s World is a good entity for the world because LaDawnya’s World is a source of encouragement and fun. I am glad that God inspired me to create LaDawnya’s World because it has been a great outlet for me to be creative and for me to meet new people and make new friends. Do you feel silly sometimes when you are writing this stuff? At first, I use to because everyone would ask, 'Why are you doing this?’ And I had no real response. Now, I know that God has gifted me with this talent, so I no longer feel silly. From now on, when people ask me that question, 'Why are you doing this?’ My response is, 'Because God put this creativity in me and I have to get it out." What if people think you are crazy? Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I can't stop anyone from thinking what they want to think. I just know that we all have something that we do or like to do that people will think is crazy. We have to choose to live out our dreams or to hide because of what people say. I chose not to hide anymore. |
